RUSSELL JOHNSON RECEIVES MORE HONORS - January 25, 2012 - Russell has been selected to be a part of IBMA's "Leadership Bluegrass" class of 2012, March 8th-10th in Nashville, TN. The purpose of the program is to pull together a cross section of people with exhibited or potential leadership qualities into a network of learning and communication.  The selection process for Leadership Bluegrass is competitive, with more applicants than there are positions available.   Among others attending, will be Sharon White of The Whites and Claire Lynch. We have also just learned of Russell's nomination in SPBGMA's 2012 "Bluegrass Songwriter of the Year" category. He joins the likes of Tim Stafford and Tom T. & Dixie Hall, among others. This is the second year in a row he has been nominated in this category. In addition to the two big nods mentioned above, the title cut from Russell's recent solo project, Anytime Anyplace But Only You, is #6 on the January 2012 Bluegrass Unlimited national chart and #4 on the Bluegrass Music Profiles' (BMP) chart. The single, which was #1 for three months on Bluegrass Unlimited's national charts and #1 for four months on Bluegrass Music Profiles' (BMP) charts, was written by Russell Johnson. The International Association of Independent Recording Artists (IAIRA) recognizes and honors artistic achievement, technical proficiency, and overall excellence in sound recording by monitoring chart activity as published in various reporting charts from around the world.       "A GOOD WAY TO GET THE BLUES" - #1 AGAIN!!! - August 5, 2010 - The single "A Good Way To Get The Blues" is #1 on the Bluegrass Unlimited national chart again in August 2010! That makes the third straight month it has topped the most recognized chart in bluegrass music. It is also #1 on the BMP Top 30 national chart for the fourth month in 2010 (February, May, July, and August). Thanks to all of the DJ's who have given it a spin and all of the folks who have called your favorite show to request it.   SONGWRITER PROFILE OF RUSSELL - June 30, 2010 - Bluegrass Music Profiles (BMP) recently featured our very own Russell Johnson in their "Songwriter Profile" section. As most of you know, Russell has written many hit songs, including "Bluegrass Man" and "A Good Way To Get The Blues".
